TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT (TQM) JUST IN TIME (JIT)

Introduction

TQM & JIT have been introduced into a vast number of companies around the world in the last two decades.

Target group

This course is targeted at all company personnel, in order for them to get an understanding of TQM and JIT. Initially there is a small group of enthusiasts, who convert top management, and then many others across industrial companies need and understanding.

Course objectives

To introduce candidates to the concepts of TQM and JIT. To develop personnel right across the organisation so that they are able to take part in implementation projects.

Entry requirements

Basic literacy in English. Experience of industrial environments.

Basics Concepts of TQM

	To implement a Plan/Do/Check/Act process.
	To lead a quality circle.
	To lead a brainstorming session.
	To construct a cause and effect diagram.
	To conduct quality of exercise.

Problem Solving Tools

	To implement and analyse a control chart.
	To set up a visual signalling system.
	To draw a house of quality chart.

Just in Time - the big picture

	To discover waste in the working environment.
	To start set-up reduction project.
	To calculate a level Schedule.
	To start a cellular manufacturing project.

Supplier partnerships, kanban

	To design a pull system.
	To increase the value-adding percentage of time of purchasing professionals.
	To design containers.

Flow Manufacturing

	To design a basic system for flow manufacturing.
	To balance a plant using takt time.

JIT implementation

	To set-up a JIT implementation programme.
	To scope a diagnostic review.
	To draw up a JIT implementation plan.
	To establish JIT performance measures.

Influence of JIT on ERP systems

To draw up an outline specification for alternations to an ERP system for JIT & Flow manufacturing.
